25 Things I’ve Done Today Instead of Writing

The problem is not subject matter I have great ideas for posts here and for my column at the Washington Times Communities. The problem is the fact that they are buried in my head and need to be extracted one word at a time. That? Sounds like work.

So here’s what I’ve been doing instead of writing:

  1. Laundry
  2. Made a pasta salad to bring to a party tomorrow
  3. Grocery shopping
  4. Narrowly avoided being hit by a falling piece of ceiling tile at Target
  5. Called AT&T to bitch about my lousy cell reception and got a credit to my bill to make up for their “degraded tower” issues
  6. Pondered why it is that AT&T allows their towers to degrade to the point of it affecting my service
  7. Marinated chicken for dinner
  8. Watched three consecutive episodes of True Life on MTV
  9. Pondered how I can be 38 and still watching MTV
  10. Remembers for the billionth time that I still haven’t gotten that form for C’s pre-school notarized
  11. Looked up where to find a notary
  12. Watched more True Life and promised myself to go to the notary later
  13. Contemplated working in the garden
  14. Washed dishes
  15. Felt envy for people with dishwashers
  16. Decided that even though I’m staying home now dishes should still be primarily my husband’s responsibility
  17. Ditto taking out the trash
  18. And mowing the lawn
  19. Thought about the remaining dancers on So You Think You Can Dance and decided I really do want Melanie to win
  20. Read more of a memoir of a professional dominatrix and concluded that I did not miss my calling
  21. Read some blogs hoping for a jolt of desire to write
  22. Played some Words With Friends
  23. Wondered what language Words With Friends thinks I speak because it only gives me I’s and T’s
  24. Straightened my underwear drawer
  25. Wrote a total cop out post instead of anything substantive

I watched “True Life” the other day. For some reason the TV was turned to MTV. It was…horrid. Absolutely dreadful. Who the hell can watch that garbage?

you used the word “substantive” – so that is totally like doing work.

if you share the pasta salad recipe, that’s helping others which is tantamount to doing community service.

productive day for you if you ask me.

Great idea for a post! I’ve done so many of those (or some form of), except rearrange my underwear drawer, and watch SYTYCD. I’m a dancer and that show stresses me out!

wow. I think you do a lot today.

And, we have a dishwasher, but with it being just me and the hubby, using it is a waste. (at least that’s what he says)
