There are approximately 300,000,000 guns owned by private citizens in America.
11,000 of those guns will be used in a homicide.
19,000 of those guns will be used in a suicide.
600 of those guns will accidentally kill person.
78,000 of those guns will injure another person.
565 of those guns will murder children
67,000 of those guns will be used in self-defense.
67,000 incidents of self-defense. 109,000 incidents of murder or injury. 299,824,000 guns used for target practice, hunting or nothing at all.
In order of likelihood, you gun will:
- Be used for sport or not be used
- Hurt a person
- Kill a person
- Protect you from crime
Is it worth it to have a gun in your home, on your person? Are you safer? Is your family safer? Would you be just as safe or safer locking your gun up, unloaded?
Think about it.
