Hi y’all. I know I’ve been conspiculously absent from blogging the past couple of weeks. This is due to a combination of factors. First there’s world events: nothing truly mockable is happening. Sure, Rick Perry is a tremendous douche and Michele Bachmann couldn’t find a coherent thought with two hands and a flashlight but that’s hardly news. It’s not even really funny anymore. I’ve also been flitting hither and yon a bit to enjoy summer with various far flung family. And finally, my personal life has required all of my attention the past few weeks. Don’t worry, we’re all fine, with the exception of my grandfather who passed peacefully away at the age of 97. But losing him and some other personal circumstances have rendered my brain incapable of putting together any of my usual witty repartee. Or even good long sentence full of curse words.
I’m going to ride out the last tide of summer quietly and regroup after Labor Day. By then, Congress will return to Washington, Sarah Palin will finally stop jerking us off behind the bleachers and either give us a proverbial happy ending by running for President or leave us with blue balls when she fails to deliver to goods, and, most importantly, C will start pre-school leaving me some Backyardigans-free, uninterrupted hours to write. Meanwhile, enjoy the last days of summer and, if you’re so inclined, raise a glass to the memory of my grandfather. He liked bourbon.
Enjoy your labor day weekend:-)
Sorry to hear about your grandfather – hope you enjoy your regrouping!
