This Week in WTF: Barbarians at the gates and more!

The world’s done gone mad lately. I just wanna pop a little popcorn and watch the action unfold. Here are a few of the weird little tidbits that have bludgeoned my consciousness recently.

Barbarian Horde: Michele Bachmann’s husband Marcus is apparently a shrink who offers Christian counseling when he isn’t busy telling Michele to go to law school (true story – he told her to go become a tax attorney an she did it). In his role as Christian therapist he has developed quite an interesting perspective on homosexuals. In 2010 he said of “teh gays”,  “We have to understand: barbarians need to be educated. They need to be disciplined.”

Barbarians. Educated. Disciplined. Yeah. I have a dear (gay) friend who often responds to quotes like this one by saying “He who shouts ‘F@g!” the loudest, is one.” Perchance is Dr. Bachmann so into disciplining gays because he’s a kinky little slut who likes leather? Only Michele knows for sure.

Baby Mama Drama: Yesterday a jury acquitted Casey Anthony of murder, manslaughter and child neglect but convicted her to lying to the police. I have no idea if the jury was justified in their decision because I didn’t watch even one minute of that trial. I was too busy being upset about recent shootings in the DC area, some of which killed children and I’m waiting on those trials and a national media frenzy to erupt about those dead kids who have the misfortune to not be as cute or as white as Caylee Anthony. ANYWAY. Apparently Casey, on being questioned on her goals for post-prison life, does not want to go to Disney World. No, she wants to get knocked up and have another baby. If that doesn’t reverse the right-wing war on contraceptive health services, nothing will.

To Infinity And Beyond: The final space shuttle launch is scheduled for Froday. This is really not a WTF so much as it is the end of an era. I remember the first shuttle launch and how exciting it was to think of a space ship that could come back. Though, truthfully, I’m too young to remember the different kind of ships that didn’t come back so my nostalgia may be manufactured. Anyway, I heard an NPR report about the last shuttle launch and they commented that US astronauts would continue going to the International Space Station by hitching rides on the Russian Soyuz crafts that still make regular jaunts up there. And all I could think was “The Russians have won the Space Race, tortoise style. ”

as a kinky gay man that loves the leather, I have to say that I haven’t seen Bachmann’s husband at any of the meetings.

Oh please tell me the judge can force her to get fixed. please, please, please.

I think all children that are being hurt and murdered need national media. No matter their race, color, creed or religious ways. errrrr
