A Letter To Everyone Involved in the Debt Talks

Dear President Obama, Vice President Biden and Congressional Leaders,

Grow. The. Fuck. Up.

No one likes any of you right now. No one thinks any of you are doing a good job right now. No one wants to hear about one more minute of talks. No one wants any more press conferences where you talk smack about each other. So stop talking and do you damn jobs.

Increase the debt limit. It’s a two-sentence addition to the US code where you plug in a new number and do an up or down vote. Do it. Make it happen. NOW. Not at midnight on August 1 when we’re about to default. NOW. Today. That’s what the taxpayers pay you to do.

Stop talking about trillions in deficit cuts. Stop talking about 10 year spending plans. Stop whining about paying taxes or spending on programs that not everyone likes or cuts to Medicare or stiffing VA payments. Stop, stop, stop.

Oh, and stop holding hour-long meetings that your storm out of like a petulant teen-ager. Stop going in front of cameras and calling out each other for being intractable. Stop acting like amateurs.

You’re in the big leagues. The whole world is watching. The WHOLE WORLD. They probably think we’re all a bunch of idiots because we’re a country with an obesity problem, a foreclosure problem, two unwinnable wars going on and a bunch of jackasses in control who can’t make a fucking decision without turning it into a drama worthy of an MTV reality series. I shudder to think what it looks like when you have to order lunch. You probably throw darts at each other.

Look, I’m a middle class American who’s frozen in place wondering if I should convert my mutual funds to cash and if I should hurry up and apply for that car loan now before the banks start jacking interest rates because you all can’t get your shit together. All of this is YOUR FAULT. Your’s. Not mine. I’m minding my own business, raising my child, paying my bills, doing my job as a citizen. Contributing to the well being of our nation.

Now it’s your turn. Do your jobs. Act like patriots. Grow up.

Sincerely,

Mom-in-a-Million.

    Well said!!

Also have been wondering why if the deficit ceiling does not get raised, military salaries and social security are getting cut. Um, how about all of congress’s salaries? How about taking back some of their benefits? This problem exists because THEY allowed it/orchestrated it.

How about all government spending on entertaining/networking gets halted? And also, how about congress doesn’t go on hiatus until they fix the problem?

I just don’t understand why something that seems so straight-forward isn’t?

I hope someone of some importance see this. You said it and to the point you said it exactly how most of us feel.
    Amen

I say the way to solving the budget crisis is to send some middle class people and show them how to do it. Rising prices and lowered earnings have made us experts!
