Tonight, tonight! Won’t be just any night! Tonight doo doo doo da doo dee dahhh!!!
(I don’t really know the lyrics to this song)
Tonight I am meeting Lydia and Kate from Rants from Mommyland!!!!!!!!!
I don’t know exactly how this happened but Lydia and Kate decided that it would be super-fun to invite me over to help with their t-box taste test tonight. When I got their email about it, I felt JUST like Tai in Clueless must have felt when Cher and Dionne waved her over in gym class. And, yes, I have no doubt Kate and Lydia discussed whether or not I would render their blog “toe-up” if they brought me over but I totally don’t care.
So at 8:30pm sharp, I am due at Kate’s house to drink wine with them and live-blog about the experience. I am as nervous as I was on my first date (though equally sure I won’t be putting out at the end. I mean, I love Lydia and Kate but not that way.). First of all, what should I wear? Cocktail attire? Louboutins? I don’t have any Louboutins! Should I buy some? They cost more than a week of daycare but I need to impress Lydia and Kate somehow and maybe Louboutins are the way to go.
Oh, and what if they notice that I’m only funny if I have the time for several drafts before firing off a witty retort? Or that I’m so lame that I had to google Lady Gaga once? Or that I don’t have the alcohol tolerance of a 20-year-old anymore and I might pass out on their couch? And drool?
Maybe if I bring them a present they won’t notice that I’m an un-funny dork with no Louboutins. The obvious gift is a t-box (or boxed wine from Target for those who don’t stalk them read their blog) but they told me that already have t-boxes. Of course. Because this is a t-box taste test. What goes with t-box? Cheese? Chocolate? Chocolate covered cheese? Do they make that? My friend JS at BrokeFoodie.com makes chocolate with bacon in it. Maybe I can get her to airlift some to me so I can bring it to Kate and Lydia?
No. I can’t buy love. I need to just be myself, show up in my Uniform, and hope that I can either pull off enough funny to make them happy they invited me or get them drunk enough to not notice that I’m bringing collective funny levels down to rookie rank.
But watch this space on Monday folks because I’ll fill in the blanks that live-blogging leaves as I venture to Mommyland After Dark!
There you go again. Mocking my pain.
Have a blast… they will LOVE you!
How FUN! I wish I could come and be your DD.
Have so much fun! That’s exciting.
And I’ve found that, in a pinch, chocolate covered cheese goes with everything.
Woo hoo! I had a great time reading your tweets! I wish I could have been there!
You crack me up. So funny.
