My friend Mommy C and her husband who I’ll call the WB (because those are really his initials and I’m HILARIOUS) recently welcomed Baby S to their family. Mommy C has also welcomed a brand new blog into her life, one where she talks about her experiences as a first time mother, a new stay-at-home-mom and life in general.
I first met Mommy C a few years back when she was first engaged to her husband. My then-boyfriend-now-husband and the WB (HA!) went to school together and we all met up in their hometown to share some pre-wedding festivities. Mommy C and I found ourselves in a smoky bar in America’s Heartland with our significant others and about five of their friends. We were the only girls. We hit it off immediately and started chatting away like women can do when they’ve never met but they have beers in front of them and their dates are re-living some glory days at the other end of the table. She and I covered a whole universe of fun topics: knitting, weight loss, European travel, how the WB proposed. The boys? Talked about video games. That they played in 1998. And Seinfeld episodes. That they watched in 1998. Remind me again why men are in charge?
The next time I saw Mommy C was a few months later at her indescribably gorgeous wedding at a Northern California winery. I live with an ever-lasting jealousy over her wedding because she walked down the aisle to the theme music from The Princess Bride, which officially makes hers the Coolest Wedding Processional Ever.
Now she’s a brand-new mom, and if her Facebook updates, photos and blog are any indication, she’s doing fantastic job with Baby S. You can check out her mommy blog at Being Mom…NOW and see for yourself how great she is.
And feel free to tell her you’re jealous of her wedding music too because it was really, really awesome.
I have a Baby S, too! Am going to check out her blog. Thanks for the suggestion. 🙂
Thank you for the shout-out!! It is amazing how women can get together for the first time and find 10 million things to talk about and guys will get together and talk about one of a couple of things: video games, sports, or tv/movies. As for my processional, I wish I could claim it was all my idea, but I stole it from a friend. 🙂 I do think the barn doors opening just as the music gets really going added to the effect.
Oh, and I might just have to steal the "WB" for my husband. 🙂 I asked him what he wanted me to call him on my blog and he said, "Why can't you just say 'your husband'?" He just didn't get it.
Thanks again!!
